When our pennies work together, they can work wonders - Support the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada… it just makes CENTS!

MONTREAL, June 5, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Free your handbags and piggybanks from the weight of your pennies, and support the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada… it just makes CENTS! Last March, the government sounded the death knell for the penny, which will disappear from the Canadian market over the next year. The Quebec Division of the MS Society is making the most of this opportunity, with its fundraising campaign When our pennies work together, they can work wonders.

Look at all the things we can do…
Throughout Quebec, bring your hoarded pennies to participating drop-off points, such as the 23 offices of the MS Society's local chapters. It's a great way of showing your solidarity with the approximately 20,000 Quebecers who have multiple sclerosis and turning your pennies into action. With 5,000 pennies, a person with MS can join a support group for a year, whereas 100,000 pennies will allow a kid whose mother or father has MS to spend a week at a summer camp, talk about his or her experiences, learn more about the disease and find out how to handle the situation better.

For more information about the campaign, including where the participating drop-off points are, visit supportms.ca.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada
The MS Society is a national organization whose mission is to be a leader in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and enabling people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life. For more than 60 years, it has fought tirelessly to end this neurological disease, which is the most widespread among young adults in Canada.

Multiple sclerosis is a degenerative auto-immune disease, and is highly unpredictable. It generally first appears in people aged 15 to 40 years old and affects three times as many women as men.
