Universities from Around the World to Compete in the John Molson Undergraduate Case Competition

Concordia University's John Molson School of Business to host third annual competition event

MONTREAL, Feb. 18 /CNW Telbec/ -Students from twenty-four universities will arrive in Montreal to compete in the third edition of the John Molson Undergraduate Case Competition (JMUCC). The competition, from Sunday, February 20 to Saturday, February 26, 2011, includes presentations at Concordia University's John Molson School of Business (1450 Guy Street) and at the Montreal Hilton Bonaventure (900 de la Gauchetière Street West).

Organized by John Molson School of Business undergraduate students, the competition provides a new and innovative approach that is unique to traditional business case competitions. This distinct format will put participants' academic wit and business savvy to the ultimate test.

Approximately 200 industry executives from the Montreal business community will to serve as volunteer members of the judging panel. While the topics for the case studies remain confidential, four cases have been sponsored by companies that are currently facing business challenges.

Twenty universities from around the world participated in the 2009 inaugural edition of the competition. This year, four new schools are added to the roster. Increased use of social media to promote the event helped grow international interest and registration. Ten universities from Canada, six from the United States, four from Europe and four from Asia are expected to compete at JMUCC.

The event begins with a cocktail reception  on  Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. Former President of the Montreal Alouettes football team, Larry Smith, will preside over the competition's Opening Ceremonies.
