UNCOVER THE INNOVATIVE SPIRIT OF A NATION WITH JAPAN: TRADITION. INNOVATION.

MISSISSAUGA, ON, May 4 /CNW/ - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is pleased to announce its role as Presenting Sponsor of a major exhibition exploring the historical roots of cutting-edge Japanese technology and design, opening at the Canadian Museum of Civilization on May 20, 2011. JAPAN: Tradition. Innovation. will include as an artifact the Subaru 360, which became a milestone in the history of Japan's automotive industry and established Subaru as a builder of small, affordable yet technologically advanced cars. The exhibition is the product of years of close collaboration between the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the National Museum of Japanese History in Sakura, Japan.

JAPAN: Tradition. Innovation.  celebrates a centuries-long Japanese tradition of innovation. Canadians may be surprised to discover that items that have put Japan on the leading edge of contemporary design - namely, its revolutionary robotics, edgy art and trend-setting fashion - echo earlier Japanese innovations that date back as far as the early 1600s.

"Japanese-designed products are certainly a part of Canadian life and in many cases they have been an engine for innovation in Canada and around the world," said Dr. Victor Rabinovitch, President and CEO of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation. "Subaru is a company known here and internationally for its innovation and design, and we are pleased to have Subaru as the Presenting Sponsor of our new exhibition."

Subaru is also extremely proud of its involvement in an exhibit that showcases the richness and determination of a great nation and culture from centuries past to today's greatest achievements.

"Our involvement in this exhibit is something we can stand behind wholeheartedly," said Shiro Ohta, President and CEO of SCI. "We aim to build cars and SUVs that are safe and fun to drive, and innovation through continual improvement is key to achieving this goal. This exhibit shows us where we came from and challenges us to become better."

JAPAN: Tradition. Innovation.  will be presented from May 20 to October 10, 2011 at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Quebec.
