TORONTO, Sept. 7, 2011 /CNW/ - Roberta Scott is a Toronto Paramedic
travelling down to NYC Sept 8th - Sept 13th. She will be there
representing the Ontario Paramedic Association on 9/11 to honour the
EMS workers who responded that day, many of whom died.
"September 11th 2001 was the day the world changed forever" Roberta said
"Everyone who watched the horrible tragedy unfold live on television
had their own perspective through which they saw it. Mine was simply
'oh my god, all the Paramedics are going to be right there at the foot
of the towers, waiting to help the wounded, they will all be gone'
"When I travelled down to NYC for the 1st Anniversary and met the EMT/Paramedics, I made many lifelong friends.
I was struck by their courage and their incredible stories of the
devastation. And they were not bitter or jaded about being all but
forgotten on the 9/11 anniversary, they were simply heartfelt in their
grief and sadness about what happened, the horrors they lived through
that day and all the friends they too had lost."
"It is my hope that when I am in NYC for the 10th Anniversary to honour my American brothers and sisters in EMS, we can
tell their stories to the world as well. Stories from the survivors,
and stories of the ones who were lost that day".
Please go to the home page of our website www.ontarioparamedic.ca to read a detailed description of Roberta's trip to NYC.
In the 10 years since 9/11 there has been very little coverage about the
experiences of the Paramedics working in NYC that day, or of the many
Paramedics lost that day.
It is our hope that this year the Paramedics in NYC will be included in
your coverage of the 10th Anniversary of 9/11.
We have lined up numerous Paramedics in NYC who are survivors of 9/11
who are willing to be interviewed by your staff before and/or on the
They will describe their experiences that day, and tell you about the
friends and co workers they lost.
