Toronto Hydro at Work: Exhibition Place Wind Turbine

TORONTO, March 15, 2013 /CNW/ - On a windy day, the Ex Place wind turbine stands still. Toronto Hydro crews are replacing the converter in the turbine; it changes mechanical energy into electricity. Constructed in December 2002, the turbine's been a symbol for local, renewable power. Last year, the turbine generated 585,000 kilowatt hours of electricity; a typical home uses approximately 800 kwh/month.
