TORONTO, May 10, 2011 /CNW/ -- After more than 170,000 votes were cast for over 240 towns across Canada, 20 have earned a spot in the final round of voting for WFN's Ultimate Fishing Town Canada 2011, beginning today.
Online voting at www.WFNFishingTown.com closes May 31 and the winner will be announced in June at a ceremony emceed by WFN personality Mariko Izumi. Last year Port Alberni, BC, which, despite a population of just 18,000 residents, was named the 2010 WFN Ultimate Fishing Town.
In addition to national recognition, the winning community will be awarded a $25,000 donation to be used towards fishing-related cause(s); 10 WaveSpin Reels; and have a feature about fishing in their town air on WFN: World Fishing Network, North America's only 24/7 fishing channel. The top two runners-up will receive a cash prize.
The Top 20 towns are: Athabasca, AB; Barrie, ON; Burnt Church, NB; Campbell River, BC; Chapleau, ON; Deline, NT; Haliburton, ON; Hastings, ON; Honey Harbour, ON; Juniper, NB; Lutsel K'e, NT; Miramichi, NB; Nain, NL; Nipawin, SK; Port Colborne, ON; Port Hardy, BC; Port Renfrew, BC; Temagami, ON; Terrace, BC; and Yellowknife, NT.

It's now up to Canadians to determine the Ultimate Fishing Town by casting those votes."
