The Globe and Mail appoints Alon Marcovici as Vice President,
Marketing and Audience Intelligence

TORONTO, May 5 /CNW/ - The Globe and Mail has announced that Alon Marcovici is joining the organization on June 20, 2011 in a new role as Vice President, Marketing and Audience Intelligence. Marcovici's primary responsibilities will include overseeing brand and consumer marketing, and sponsorships, as well as spearheading an initiative to deliver enhanced audience intelligence to inform and enable The Globe's business strategies.

"The creation of Alon's new role has been driven by our desire to have access to much deeper audience intelligence that will allow us to better connect our content with audience needs, enhance the experience with our brand on all platforms, and also deliver insight-based advertising solutions for our clients," said Phillip Crawley, Publisher and CEO of The Globe and Mail.

Marcovici was most recently Executive Vice President, Digital Media at CTV and also served as Vice President, Digital Media for Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium - a role in which he oversaw all digital efforts and research activities for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games and resulted in him being named Executive of the Year at the Canadian New Media Awards and receiving a Gemini award for Outstanding Technical Achievement in Digital Media.

Marcovici's 18-year career in marketing and communications has spanned the sports and entertainment, media and non-profit sectors. Prior to joining the Consortium in 2007, Marcovici held the positions of Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of the Toronto Board of Trade; Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the NHL Florida Panthers; and he also served as Director of Marketing Media with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd.
