Classical Banff: A Symphony of Taste - A Premiere Event in a Spectacular New Outdoor Venue
BANFF, AB, May 17 /CNW/ - The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra heads to Banff on September 17 for an afternoon of music in the mountains, set in the spectacular new outdoor performance venue, the Shaw Amphitheatre at The Banff Centre.
Classical Banff: A Symphony of Taste places a world-class musical performance as the centerpiece to a culturally rich, mountain weekend getaway combined with extraordinary local culinary experiences. Overlooking the town of Banff and the breathtaking mountains of the Bow Valley, audiences will experience the stunning beauty of Banff National Park and the majestic natural acoustics of the new Shaw Amphitheatre.
Led by resident conductor Mélanie Léonard, the CPO will present a popular program of music including Tchaikovsky's Finale from Symphony No. 4, Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 "Pastoral," and Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man. The performance will also feature one of Canada's most acclaimed and award-winning cellists, Shauna Rolston, as she returns to her hometown to accompany CPO musicians on works by Saint-Saëns and Fauré.
"Banff National Park is clearly one of the most spectacular destinations in the world," says Julie Canning, president and CEO of Banff Lake Louise Tourism. "The Banff Centre's new amphitheatre is a truly amazing and unique setting to experience one of the finest orchestras in North America".
Special dining and cultural packages are available for the visiting audience to make a day or weekend of the event. Featured packages include a special pre-show reception with CPO Music Director Roberto Minczuk, special VIP seating, and post-show dining experience. The weekend's activities are presented in partnership by The Banff Centre, The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and Banff Lake Louise Tourism.
