VANCOUVER, Sept. 13, 2011 /CNW/ - Part volunteer fair, part silent art
auction, part night out. On September 22nd 2011, Timeraiser will return to Vancouver for its 4th year. Tickets can be purchased for $20 at www.timeraiser.ca. The Vancouver Timeraiser will be held at The Waldorf Hotel, 1489 East
Timeraiser engages active young professionals and creates a positive
impact for local causes such as Beauty Night Society, Urban Native
Youth Association, Evergreen, and the Alzheimer Society of B.C. The
objective for Vancouver's 4th Timeraiser is to invest $13,000 into the careers of local artists and
generate over 4,000 volunteer hours. The unique twist behind Timeraiser
is that artwork is presented and auctioned for volunteer time, instead
of money. Now in eight Canadian cities, this powerful community
movement has generated over 93,000 volunteer hours and engaged 6,000
Canadians to support a cause.
Presented in partnership with Vantage Point, the Timeraiser connects
volunteerism with incredible art. There are 19 dynamic visual art
pieces by emerging artists in this year's auction. Timeraiser
participants have one year to complete their volunteer pledge, and once
complete, they will take the artwork home as a reminder of their
goodwill. Artists are paid fair market value (up to $1000) for their
work, thanks to Timeraiser's corporate partnerships. Timeraiser is
thrilled to announce Marc Smith, Amuse Consulting as this year's Emcee.
An example of a successful Vancouver Timeraiser volunteer is Jessica
Evans, who completed over 100 hours in 12 months, continuing her
volunteer engagement since her pledge ended: "The Timeraiser was rewarding, fun and an incredible learning experience
- great exercise for the body and mind. [My pledge] was the motivation
I needed to incorporate volunteering into my busy, active lifestyle."
"Getting involved in your community isn't always easy, but the Timeraiser
makes it very simple to find unique and meaningful opportunities" said Anil Patel, Founder and Executive Director of Framework. Other
Timeraiser events are taking place in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary,
London, Ottawa, Toronto, and Hamilton.
