STATE JURISTS' STRIKE - NEGOTIATIONS BREAKDOWN: THE GOVERNMENT ABANDONS JUSTICE

MONTREAL, Feb. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - The government has broken off today the negotiations with the State jurists by rejecting the counter-offers made by the AJE, that were aiming at finding a common ground to the satisfaction of both parties. The will of the government to solve the work conflict affects the whole Quebec population and puts at risk the totality of the judicial system. The AJE briskly denounces the governmental attitude: "in the media, the ministers are showing themselves ready to negotiate, but at the negotiation table, the governmental representatives cross their arms and simply say no".

"Justice is not a hobby! The government cannot abandon his population by weakening the judicial system until it falls. The Quebec people deserve a good and solid judicial system and the lawyers that go with it", indicated Me Eric Dufour, spokesperson of the Association des juristes de l'Etat, following the negotiations breakdown.

Be it reminded that the 1000 State jurists initiated strike on Tuesday, February 8.
