Shift into winter driving

THORNHILL, ON, Nov. 30, 2011 /CNW/ - Getting behind the wheel in the winter can be more challenging than any other time of year. • Dress for the weather and pack extra clothing
  • Remove all the snow and ice from your vehicle
  • Top up windshield washer fluid
  • Slow down and drive according to the road conditions
  • Leave extra space between you and the vehicle in front of you

What you need to pack in your vehicle:

  • Ice scraper
  • Snow brush
  • Shovel Booster cables
  • Blankets
  • Extra clothing and footwear
  • Flashlight
  • First aid kit
  • Windshield washer fluid
  • Bottled water
  • Granola or energy bars

CAA's 24 hour roadside assistance is just a click away. CAA members can access fast and reliable Road Service Online by visiting www.caasco.com/ers. Members can check the status of their call and even cancel their request.

A reminder to members, CAA SCO services high priority calls first - those drivers who are stranded out in the cold weather and snowy conditions. Members who are safe at home and calling for assistance are asked to be patient. If you are requesting service while at home, please help CAA tow truck drivers access your vehicle by clearing a path on your driveway free of snow. Also, keep in mind, after a major snow storm, tow truck operators cannot access unplowed roadways.
