SARNIA RESIDENT WINS $16.6 MILLION IN LOTTO MAX DRAW

TORONTO, April 18 /CNW/ - Sarnia resident Jon Hines, 61, has 16 million more reasons to smile today, as he is the winner of $16.6 million from this past weekend's LOTTO MAX draw. The retiree arrived at the OLG Toronto Prize Centre to claim his prize, with an entourage of happy and supportive family members. Hines said that his win was a huge shock.

"I checked online on Saturday morning, and realized that I had all seven numbers and I started to cry. Tears came to my eyes. It was really an emotional moment," he explained.

Hines buys his lottery tickets from the same place every week, so once he got over the shock, he drove over to the retailer and confirmed that he had a winning ticket on his hands.

The former petro-chemical industry employee, who worked for the same company for 30 years before retiring last year, says that he's already pretty comfortable in life and that a good portion of his windfall will be going to his two children.

"My son just recently asked me to borrow some money for a major purchase, and so it's funny now, because I will be giving him much, much more than he originally asked for," laughed Hines.

Although Hines already has a newer home, he said he plans on building a new house in a rural area with his windfall.

"I can build a house the way I want it, with a nice big TV room and lots of land!" he laughed.

The winning ticket was purchased at Loblaws Superstore on Murphy Road in Sarnia.

OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games and gaming facilities. Since 1975, OLG lotteries, casinos, slots, and resort casinos have generated more than $32 billion for the benefit of the Province of Ontario.
