Russell Peters and Pepto-Bismol put the "giving" back in Thanksgiving with Feast for All

Pepto-Bismol is giving $25,000 to Food Banks Canada this Thanksgiving

TORONTO, Sept. 30, 2011 /CNW/ - Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes and pie - it is all the trappings of the ultimate Canadian Thanksgiving, including pink sidekick: Pepto-Bismol. However, for the hundreds of thousands of Canadians who struggle to put food on the table, Pepto-Bismol wants them to know it has their backs, too this Thanksgiving. The pink sidekick is teaming up with Russell Peters, one of Canada's most famous comedians, and Food Banks Canada to launch its Feast For All campaign.

"Thanksgiving is one of my favourite holidays and the best one to wear sweat pants to dinner," said Russell Peters.  "I've been lucky enough to have had fantastic Thanksgiving dinners over the years and feel that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy this great holiday.  So I've teamed up with Pepto-Bismol and Food Banks Canada to encourage Canadians to help give back to those in need this Thanksgiving."

Making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate this Thanksgiving is easier than making gravy. To show that Canada supports this worthwhile cause, Pepto-Bismol and Russell are asking for everyone's help. From now until October 10, 2011, simply log on to Pepto-Bismol's Facebook page where Russell proudly shows off his prized Thanksgiving turkey. All people have to do to support the campaign is "like" the photo of Russell and his turkey. For every Facebook "like" the photo receives, Pepto-Bismol will donate $1 to Food Banks Canada*.

"Many Canadians turn to food banks for support, especially during holidays, so we are grateful to Pepto-Bismol for its support at this key time of year," said Katharine Schmidt, Executive Director, Food Banks Canada. "Hunger is a persistent and growing problem in Canada and coming together as a community to support efforts like this will go a long way to assisting Canadians in need."
