TORONTO, June 6, 2011 /CNW/ - It is my pleasure to announce that ROBERT McCULLOUGH will be joining Random House of Canada Limited as Publisher of a newly created imprint. Robert comes to us from Vancouver-based
Whitecap Books, where he has worked for over 21 years, and has been
their Publisher since 2001. This as-yet-unnamed publishing line will
function as an independent imprint at Random House of Canada, focusing
on the type of lifestyle and food titles for Canada and the North
American marketplace that Robert has published with great success in
Robert's first day with us will be July 11, 2011, and he will report
directly to me.
This new imprint will have the full benefit of all of Random House of
Canada's shared services, including marketing, sales, production and
design, and publishing services departments. Colleagues from these
departments will be working with Robert through a Publishing Board on
the development of the list. Over the next few years this program will
grow to publish 15-20 titles a year.
Robert will continue to be located in Vancouver. A West Coast-based
imprint will be a valuable addition to our overall publishing mix, and
Robert's relationships with some of the great gastronomic talent there
will significantly add to our national publishing profile.
At Whitecap, Robert has published some of Canada's best-known culinary
figures, from Michael Smith, Bob Blumer and Anna Olson, to new
personalities on the food scene like Bal Arneson and Roger Mooking. He
has also worked with international cooking superstars including Donna
Hay, Gordon Ramsay, Curtis Stone and Tessa Kiros. During Robert's
tenure as Publisher, Whitecap has garnered awards from Cuisine Canada
and the World Gourmand Cookbook Awards.
I look forward to providing you with further information about this new
development for our business in the coming months. I have admired
Robert's publishing acumen and success at Whitecap, and I look forward
to working with him as a member of our team.
Please join me in welcoming Robert to Random House of Canada.
