EDMONTON, April 27 /CNW/ - A new online lookup service will allow the
public to verify the registration of registered nurses (RNs) and nurse
practitioners (NPs) who are members of the College and Association of
Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). By inputting a nurse's exact
first and last name, the viewer will be able to see a nurse's
registration number, registration status (RN, NP, non‐practicing, etc),
permit expiry date and any conditions on the registration or permit.
The look up is available on the home page of the CARNA website, www.nurses.ab.ca.
This information is required to be publicly available according to the Health Professions Act (HPA), and has previously been provided through the CARNA office during
business hours. In announcing this service, CARNA joins 11 other

professionals for the purpose of authenticity and protection of the
public from fraudulent practitioners.
The public online lookup will assure more timely and accurate
verification of licensure for registered nurses and nurse practitioners
