TD Bank: Proud Title Sponsor
MONTREAL, April 28 /CNW Telbec/ - After just three years in existence, le regroupement des fondations collégiales de Montréal has awarded more than $115,000 in scholarships to 112 college students
who have achieved excellence in their programs of study. This
initiative has been sponsored by TD Bank since its inception.
The regroupement of 12 college foundations was conceived in Montreal with the objective
of demonstrating that CEGEP students represent a dynamic force in both
business and society in general. The annual gala highlights emerging
talent and demonstrates that a postsecondary education can help meet
the needs of industry. To illustrate this, each award is bestowed upon
its recipient by a representative of its sponsoring company. The
recipients are partnered with their corporate sponsor and dine together
at the exclusive banquet event.
Since the creation of the regroupement, TD Bank has been on board as title sponsor of the annual gala.
"Education is a key priority in TD Bank's support initiatives. We
firmly believe that support for education will help build the next
generation. We are proud to be a partner, for the third year running,
of an event that rewards these students in their pursuit of
excellence." said Nathalie Gagnon, Vice-President, TD Commercial
On May 3, 2011, 36 scholarships will be awarded to as many students. The
evening will also include the awarding of the jury's special Coup de coeur scholarship. Each year, the 12 colleges on the island of Montreal
educate more than 40,000 people in more than 60 programs of study -
technical, pre-university and continuing education - representing all
the main economic sectors. Over the past 40 years, nearly 375,000
students have graduated from Montreal-area colleges, leading them to
rewarding careers or success at university. The colleges continue to
play an important role in shaping the new economic landscape.
