Pfizer continues to support ACTI-MENU with annual Challenge
KIRKLAND, QC, April 29 /CNW/ - As a program partner, Pfizer Canada
congratulates ACTI-MENU on the success of the twelfth annual Quit to Win! Challenge in support of a smoke-free Quebec following this morning's closing
This year, more than 23,000 participants engaged in the Challenge; accounting for an almost 50 per cent increase from last year. To meet
the needs of smokers wanting to quit, this year's Challenge was more flexible than in previous years. Each participant was given
the opportunity to put together a personalized Challenge and thus maximize his or her chances of success. This included
registration, either alone, or with a sponsor, and access to a variety
of free support tools.
"Pfizer is proud to be a partner with ACTI-MENU in the Quit to Win! Challenge which provided help and support to the many smokers in Quebec who
struggle to quit smoking and deal with their nicotine addiction," said
Paul Lévesque, President Pfizer Canada. "It is the addiction aspect of
smoking that is the reason why only a small percentage of smokers are
able to quit without assistance and why it is important that motivated
quitters also involve a healthcare professional. As a healthcare
partner we believe that we can - or more precisely - we must - work
together with other innovative healthcare partners to improve the
health of the province by supporting people in quitting smoking."
About the Quit to Win! Challenge
The Quit to Win! Challenge is an ACTI-MENU initiative developed in partnership with several public
and private organizations, including the ministère de la Santé et des
Services sociaux du Québec, Quebec's departments of public health, the
Canadian Cancer Society, Jean Coutu, Pfizer, Novartis, and TELUS Health
These partners have contributed to the Challenge's broad visibility and renown. Many individuals from the health network
and various professional associations were also called upon to help
promote the Challenge and its alliance with provincial smoking cessation services, and to
ensure its deployment throughout Quebec.
ACTI-MENU is a social enterprise wholly owned by three foundations:
Fondation Prévention Santé Intégrale, Fondation ÉPIC, and Fondation de
l'Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont. ACTI-MENU develops its programs and
services in partnership with such prestigious institutions as the
Montreal Heart Institute and Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont.
