VERDUN, QC, June 8, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - The work involved in
reconfiguring L'Île-des-Sœurs' entrances and exits was resumed with
even greater intensity last week. This coming weekend, in order to make
it possible to carry out the work and speed up delivery of the
structures, the contractor will have to shut down the area west of
Bonaventure Expressway (between the roundabout at the entrance to the
island and Exit 5 off the Expressway).
The northbound lane will therefore be closed from the entrance
roundabout (the ramp leading to the Pointe-Nord area or to Champlain
bridge), starting at 10 a.m. this Friday, June 10 and until 5 a.m. on
Monday morning, June 13. As for Exit 57-N off Autoroute A-15 Sud, it
will be closed starting at 10 p.m. this Friday, June 10 and until
5 a.m. on Monday, June 13. To access the Pointe-Nord area or the
autoroute network above it, motorists from the southern part of the
island will have to take boulevard René-Lévesque. Signs will be
installed to guide motorists along the detour road.
The work must be carried out on a weekend in order to keep the impact on
traffic to the bare minimum. This type of road closure is likely to
occur again every weekend, all summer long, depending on the weather
and the progress of the work.
The Verdun Borough apologizes to motorists for the inconveniences caused
by these road closures and urges them to drive carefully.
