Parents and coaches support kids' goal to be Rising Prospects

CHL and Old Dutch Foods offer major prize for hockey youngsters

TORONTO, Sept. 13, 2011 /CNW/ - For the third year Old Dutch has partnered with the CHL to offer the 2011/12 Rising Prospects contest and the ultimate hockey prize  - a training day with a CHL team and VIP tickets to a CHL game.

By entering the UPC code from specially-marked packages of Old Dutch® Potato Chips at olddutchfoods.ca, players, coaches, parents and fans can submit their team (players ages 6 - 12) for a shot at the Old Dutch CHL Rising Prospects 2011/2012 grand prize. The winning team will receive a "skills and drills" instructional session with a CHL team as well as attend a game as VIP guests of that CHL team. Rogers Sportsnet will be on hand to film segments of the "skills and drills" and CHL game, and will be featured on sportsnet.ca, olddutchfoods.ca, chl.ca and their league sites, the Old Dutch YouTube Channel and Facebook.com/olddutch.

"Parent coaches only have a few hours to lace up before they are back at their jobs as teachers, engineers, nurses and construction workers," says Kathy Kaufman, the parent who submitted last year's winning entry on behalf of the LaSalle Sabres 98s. "Every kid wants a chance to learn hockey from the people who play it. CHL teams are strong, disciplined and hardworking. They offer a lot to our young players, and we know that our kids listen to them."

"Rising Prospects continues to develop the connection between Old Dutch Foods and families all across Canada," says Scott Kelemen, National Director of Marketing for Old Dutch Foods. "You can see the joy and respect on these kids' faces as they work with the CHL players. We're pleased to be able to help them develop their passion for Canada's game."

The five million specially-marked Old Dutch® Potato Chips packages can be found at more than 10,000 grocery, convenience and gas bar retail locations across Canada. For more information and contest rules, visit olddutchfoods.ca or chl.ca.

"Rising Prospects provides an opportunity to thank families for their support of our products," says Keleman. "And it helps consumers understand the quality Old Dutch Foods offers in all that we do."
