TORONTO, June 6, 2011 /CNW/ - The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is
seeking applicants for membership on its new Market Structure Advisory
MSAC will serve as a forum to discuss issues associated with market
structure and marketplace operations in the Canadian and global capital
markets. The Committee will also act as a source of feedback to OSC
staff on the development of policy and rule-making initiatives that
promote investor protection, fair and efficient capital markets and
confidence in those markets.
"The OSC is undertaking a number of important regulatory initiatives
that address the evolving market structure," said Susan Greenglass,
Director, Market Regulation. "This committee will provide a unique
perspective that will help to inform and enhance our policy development
The MSAC will consist of between 10-14 members with a variety of
different perspectives and will meet at least four times annually.
Members will be selected for their extensive knowledge of the Canadian
capital markets and market structure and strong knowledge of the
regulatory requirements in securities legislation in Canada. Terms of
Committee members will be two years.
The Committee will be chaired by an industry representative who has
expertise in market structure issues and interest in related policy
considerations. The Chair of the Committee will be chosen from amongst
the members of the Committee by the members themselves. The term of the
Chair will be one year.
All interested parties, including representatives with industry
experience and expertise in market structure issues, are invited to
apply in writing for membership on MSAC.
Interested parties should submit their application, indicating their
areas of practice and relevant experience, by July 5, 2011.
