Ontario's Doctors Commend Pension Legislation

TORONTO, Nov. 17, 2011 /CNW/ - Ontario's doctors and the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) commend the federal government for introducing legislation that will enable self-employed individuals to establish a pension plan.

Ontario's doctors have been leading advocates in calling for pension reform and we believe that this legislation is a positive step forward.  The creation of pooled registered pension plans (PRPPs) levels the playing field by providing the self-employed, including physicians, with better access to additional savings opportunities that have up until now been unavailable.

The OMA looks forward to reviewing the legislation in more detail and working closely with the federal government to ensure this important piece of legislation moves forward.
