VANCOUVER, June 8, 2011 /CNW/ - Following a series of ratification
meetings, the Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) membership has
accepted a new collective agreement negotiated between TELUS and the
TWU. More than 80 per cent of TELUS team members who cast their ballots
at ratification meetings in more than 30 communities voted to accept
the new contract.
"I am pleased the agreement was endorsed by our team members across
Canada," said Darren Entwistle, TELUS President and CEO. "This is great
news for TELUS, our team members and our customers, enabling us to
focus on the continued execution of our strategy, including answering
the challenges our industry's highly competitive market presents."
The new agreement, covering approximately 12,100 TELUS employees
nationally, takes effect June 9 and expires on December 31, 2015.
