New Partnership to Help Companies Prepare for Water Uncertainty

TORONTO, June 15, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - A new partnership was announced following the 2nd Annual Canadian Water Summit that will allow companies to effectively manage water use in a practical way.

The Innovolve Group, a consulting firm that specializes in helping organizations integrate sustainability into operations, has joined forces with Quantis, a life cycle assessment consulting firm that measures corporations' impact on the environment, to offer a unique full-service program called WaterInsight. The service fuses water measurement, stakeholder identification and risk management approaches to help companies plan for a future where water risk will increasingly impact the bottom line.

Companies can now bring in an expert to find out where, how and how much water is being used throughout operations. A plan can then be created to mitigate risks and take advantage of opportunities. For example, a company may learn that their supplies require a lot of water to be produced and are manufactured in areas with limited water, which is a risk even when events like droughts take place on the other side of the world. Conversely, they may learn that a targeted financial investment would reduce the amount of water used in the production of their products, which would decrease costs and improve competitiveness.
