WHITEHORSE, Feb. 11 /CNW/ - The Honourable Stockwell Day, President of
the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, today met with small-business owners and working families in
Whitehorse to discuss ways to create even more jobs and economic
growth, as the Harper Government prepares for the next phase of Canada's Economic Action Plan.
"The economy of all the regions of our country remains the number one
priority of the Prime Minister and our Government," said Minister
Day. "We will continue to focus on creating jobs for workers,
retirement savings for seniors and the financial security of all
Canadian families. We will thus continue to pay particular attention to
the economy of our regions because they play a major role in the
development of our country."
Launched in 2009, the Economic Action Plan has so far contributed to the
creation of 467,000 jobs since July 2009 and helped the country emerge
from the global economic crisis faster and stronger than most other
major industrial countries around the world.
"It is clear that the Economic Action Plan is working," continued
Minister Day. "It has created jobs in all regions of the country and
provided financial security to Canadian families through the worst
global recession since the Second World War."
Over the last few weeks, the Prime Minister, Minister Day, and members
of the Government have travelled to all regions of the country to
gather input from Canadians on the next phase of Canada's Economic Action Plan.
