TORONTO, Nov. 29, 2011 /CNW/ - The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of
Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women,
saluted the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Award recipients.
The Awards are presented in recognition of the achievements of women
entrepreneurs from across Canada.
"Canadian women entrepreneurs have a long history of excellence and we
can take great pride in their individual and collective achievements,
which have contributed positively to Canadian life," said
Minister Ambrose. "The economy is our government's top priority and we
are proud to encourage Canadian women entrepreneurs who are
contributing to economic growth and job creation in Canada."
This year's RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards recognized these
DELOITTE Start-Up Award: Jenny Munford, Creative Bube Tube;
HKMB HUB INTERNATIONAL Impact Award: Kim Rudd, Willis College - Cobourg;
RBC Momentum Award (tie): Munira Jivraj, Millennium Dental; Gloria
Rajkumar, SIMAC Canada Inc.;
TPH Sustainability Award: Susanna Carson, BSI Biodegradable Solutions;
BELL Trailblazer Award: Gabrielle Chevalier, Solutions 2 GO Inc.;
PROFIT Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship: Betty Anne
Latrace-Henderson, Airline Hotels.
The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneurs Awards were created in 1992 to
provide national recognition to Canada's women entrepreneurs. Their
successful businesses and achievements contribute to the Canadian and
global economies, as well as their communities.
Since the RBC Awards' inception, more than 11,000 women of all ages and
from every sector of the economy have been nominated. To date, 105
Awards have been presented for outstanding entrepreneurial achievement.
The Government of Canada is committed to projects that improve women's
economic security and prosperity. The Federal Government's support for
community-based projects has nearly doubled since 2006-2007, growing
from $10.8 million to close to $19 million, its highest level ever.
