TORONTO, Feb. 1 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada reported today that the
group delivered a total of 1,564 Mercedes-Benz and smart units
throughout the month. In addition, this month the company proudly
celebrated the 125th anniversary of the automobile, with the original patent being filed by
Carl Benz for his three-wheeled motor car on January 29th, 1886.
A total of 1,402 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks
were retailed in January. Strong B-Class, C-Class, CL-Class, S-Class,
M-Class and R-Class model sales contributed to January's results. Sales
of the B-Class and S-Class were ahead by 36.7% and 33.3% respectively
for the month.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 79.5% for the month,
while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 76.2% of
overall passenger car and light truck sales in January (excluding

Mercedes-Benz Pre-owned sales reported 625 vehicles delivered for the
month. This represents the best January sales for Mercedes-Benz
Pre-owned, and an increase of 123 units or 24.5% compared to January
