Medworxx is building marketing and strategy leadership to position
for growth in provincial, national and international patient flow arenas
TORONTO, May 19 /CNW/ - Medworxx Inc. (TSXV: MWX), an emerging leader in
clinical patient flow solutions, today announces the strategic
expansion of leadership to focus on its core health information
technology solutions to improve appropriate levels of care. Julia
Zarb, PhD, has joined in the role of Senior Vice President, Marketing
and Strategy, to extend the company's offering throughout the Canadian,
US and UK markets. With a base representing more than 20% of Canadian
hospitals, and multiple international clients, Medworxx is in play to
meet a surging demand for clinically-based patient flow systems.
"After fifteen years of marketing in health IT, I can say we've
collectively come close to a point of data overkill with all that we've
tried to introduce into hospitals. As a market, we need to resist
boiling the ocean -and recognize that sometimes simple solutions can
tackle big challenges," said Julia Zarb.
Zarb was brought on board to leverage her leadership experience in the
rapid-growth American health IT environment with market kingpins such
as Allscripts and Health Information Management Systems Society
(HIMSS). "Medworxx' pure focus is on helping hospitals measure clinical
judgements on care status of every patient, every day. We are in sync
with demand for what we call a 'clinical patient flow barometer' that
helps hospitals assess factors impacting patient stays," said Zarb.
The immediacy of the need to resolve patient flow issues is apparent
internationally and in Canada where 2.4 million unnecessary Alternate
Levels of Care (ALC) patient days are spent annually.1 In Ontario, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care is fulfilling
terms of the Excellent Care for All Act (Bill 46) with an annual
requirement of public Quality Improvement Plans (QIP) from hospitals to
show patient flow tactics for reducing wait times, readmissions and
days in ALC.
"Our clients in Humber River, Southlake Regional Health Center, and
Thunder Bay Regional referenced Medworxx solutions directly within
their QIP strategies," said Dan Matlow, President and CEO, Medworxx, of
some of the company's Ontario hospital customers. "As we continue to
build and amplify such client value we are proud to add Julia, and
fortunate to have Susan Gershman, who has been leading marketing,
remain in an advisory role. Our management team is fully engaged."
The Medworxx Community of Care engages more than 500,000 people at over
300 hospitals across Canada, Unites States and United Kingdom to manage
daily challenges in clinical patient flow, and requirements in
compliance and education. Founded in 2004, Medworxx Inc. is based in
Toronto, Ontario, Canada and serves international markets. The company
is publicly traded on the TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV: MWX). For more
