Strong Leadership Brings Jobs For Woodstock Families
WOODSTOCK, ON, Sept. 8, 2011 /CNW/ - Only the Ontario Liberal Plan for
clean energy and manufacturing is bringing new auto industry jobs to
"Ontario already builds more cars than any other place in North America.
Now, as we move to a clean-energy economy, we're building the next big
thing — electric cars — right here in Ontario," Premier Dalton McGuinty
Ontario Liberals opened the Toyota assembly plant in Woodstock in 2008 —
the first new auto plant in Ontario in 20 years. Now, Toyota will build
its RAV4 EV (electric vehicle) there — making Ontario the only place in
North America to produce these electric cars.
Bringing electric vehicles and electric car charging stations to
Ontario's roads is an important part of building a clean-energy
economy. These new technologies will demand the high skills of
Ontario's well-educated workforce.
"Our relentless focus on education means we're creating a high-skills,
high-wage economy — making goods no one else can," McGuinty said. "Only
the Ontario Liberals have a plan to build this economy and create these
jobs — the other parties would take us off track."
The Hudak PCs are against the foreign investment that creates thousands
of jobs for Ontario families. They also oppose any government
investment in the auto sector — calling it "corporate welfare". And the
$14 billion hole in their platform means deep cuts that will put our
economy, education and health care at risk. The Horwath NDP would
introduce a crushing $9 billion in job-killing taxes. Both would take
Ontario off track at the worst time.
"A strong economy means we're able to invest in health care and
education — improving the quality of life for all our families,"
McGuinty said. "Only the Ontario Liberals have a plan to keep moving
