- New hires and new investment propel firm to forefront of the
Out-of-Home industry --
TORONTO, May 3 /CNW/ - KB Media Inc. of Toronto (www.kb-media.ca), one of Canada's fastest growing out-of-home companies, is pleased to
announce three pivotal developments in the growth of their national
advertising network. Heading up the list of seismic changes within the
company is the hire of media veteran, Andy Querin as president and
chief operating officer, effective immediately. Among Mr. Querin's many
significant business achievements, he is the former president of Zoom
Media Inc., where he rose from the position of vice-president, sales
and marketing and managing director - English Canada. He is also a past
board member of the Canadian Out-of-Home Measurement Bureau and the
Out-of-Home Marketing Association of Canada. Prior to his Out-of-Home
experience he was national revenue manager at CBC English TV.
"Andy is a major acquisition for KB Media and will play a vital role in
cementing our position as Canada's most effective ad platform," stated
David Brisson, in his new role as CEO at KB Media Inc. "Bringing him on
board makes a strong statement about our commitment to the Canadian
marketplace and the digital landscape."
"I am excited about being a part of KB Media and looking forward to
building on their current success story, focusing on accelerating our
growth plans both organically and through potential strategic
acquisitions," says Mr. Querin.
A multi-million dollar makeover
The Company is also announcing the completion of a multi-million dollar
investment in its mirror advertising product upgrades. KB Media boasts
the highest number of mirror advertising products in the marketplace --
at 3,000 ad faces and growing -- a 600 per cent increase in just over a
year. Newest venues include high profile sites, Ontario Place, Powerade
Centre, The Ballroom, Wayne Gretzky's, Copps Coliseum, The Cellar and
Section 3 Bar.
The unique feature of KB Media's mirrors is a sensor that counts the
number of impressions and changes the image of the patron to a
colourful, digital advertisement, both as a still and motion image.
This major cash infusion will arm their specialized mirrors with the
latest in hi-tech sensors, polished chrome frames and high quality
glass, making for a cleaner, visually enhanced digital presentation and
the pinnacle of technology in the marketplace.
"Our commitment has always been to be number one in the category.
Investing in our products to utilize the leading edge technology and
protect our unique position in advertising makes our company
unparalleled in the industry," added Mr. Brisson. "Upgrading our
already state-of-the-art technology is a further testament to our
desire to put our customers' best face forward."
Research validates KB Media's image
In a just-published intercept study conducted in Chicago in January by
brand strategy consultants, Millward Brown Optimor, 900 respondents
confirmed that mirror advertising outperforms other display
advertisements in advertising recall. Unaided recall for mirror
advertising was shown to be 27 per cent higher and had a recall of 14
per cent, versus 11 per cent for other similar advertisements. Further,
83 per cent of consumers found mirror advertising appealing and 35 per
cent stated that it had a positive influence on their image of the
"We have always felt from the beginning that mirror advertising performs
brilliantly," commented Mr. Brisson. "These statistics not only
validate our intuition but clearly put us in a whole new light. This
leapfrogs our indoor advertising platform into the mainstream," he
A reflection of commitment
In addition to an expanded network and major investment in product
updates, KB Media has completed a re-design of their website (www.kb-media.ca), and the development of a new media sales strategy. The company also
promises more news in the near future regarding additional hires that
will further enhance the executive suite and burnish their profile in
the media world.
Connecting advertisers with their targets where they work, play and
spend, KB Media is a national network that offers their advertisers
audiences targeted by demographics and psychographics, with pinpoint
accuracy. The mix of venues includes sporting arenas, athletics
complexes, bars and restaurants and super-venues.
"We have had an exponential growth in clients and business. On the
surface, we look pretty good, but the more you drill down, the better
we look as a cost-effective, results-oriented advertising strategy.
When you consider the options, we keep looking better and better," Mr.
