WINNIPEG, Feb. 21 /CNW/ - This year the Jewish National Fund of Canada,
Manitoba Chapter (JNF) is pleased to honour Christine Melnick, MLA at
the Negev Gala to be held May 31, 2011 at the Centennial Concert Hall
in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Christine is a graduate of the University
of Manitoba and Dalhousie University. Her career has covered profit and
non-profit organizations in both the public and private sectors,
including education, law, offshore oil and advertising. In June 2003,
Christine was elected as MLA for Riel - the same constituency where she

of Water Stewardship.
Minister Melnick was instrumental in the creation of the Manitoba -
Israel Water Experts Symposium, a partnership between JNF/KKL and the
Province of Manitoba. This symposium, held in Manitoba in August 2008

regions to exchange information and establish long-term working
relationships for water stewardship. A second symposium was held in
Israel in January 2010, this one hosted by JNF, leading to over 30
potential joint projects in areas such as nutrient management,
wastewater recycling, education and more. The Minister's department
also established a 10-year annual $25,000 scholarship at the University
of Manitoba in 2008 for a graduate student in either a Masters or PhD
program to study in Israel for up to two years in a recognized program.
From water innovation to community involvement, Christine has brought
her positive spirit to citizens in both Manitoba and Israel. The JNF is
pleased to recognize her.
Founded in 1901, the JNF has evolved into a global environmental leader,
