Holcim Canada announced as Presenting Sponsor for CaGBC National Symposium

OTTAWA, April 4 /CNW/ - The Canada Green Building Council is pleased to announce Holcim (Canada) Inc. as the Presenting Sponsor for their 2011 National Symposium on the state of Canada's existing building stock. The Symposium will be held on April 13 and 14, 2011 at the Allstream Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

The existing buildings Symposium will focus on retrofits and upgrades to Canada's vast inventory of commercial office space. This building stock represents the greatest opportunity to make a real difference in Canada's energy needs and greenhouse gas emissions.

The Symposium will be launched by Dr. David Orr, Distinguished Professor of Environmental Studies at Oberlin College. As a Clinton Climate Change Project, the College has embarked on an ambitious multi-year revitalization plan to create a sustainable campus that will be the model for other institutions worldwide. "We're pleased to work with Holcim Canada to present this event," said Ron Lemaire, VP Market Development with CaGBC. "Holcim's leadership in developing sustainable construction practices contributes to increased awareness across the building industry.
