TORONTO, Nov. 9, 2011 /CNW/ - Global News pays tribute to the Canadian men and women who have served our country
worldwide with the hour-long Canada Remembers coverage special. Hosted by Global National Anchor & Executive Editor Dawna Friesen, Canada Remembers airs commercial-free on Remembrance Day this Friday, November 11 on all Global Stations across the country.
Beginning at 10:30am ET/7:30am PT, Canada Remembers will feature live coverage of the ceremony at the National War Memorial
in Ottawa. Global News' Chief Political Correspondent Tom Clark will be live, on-the-ground to offer a first-hand perspective of events
taking place throughout the morning. Military historian and Curator of
the Canadian War Museum Dean Oliver will also be on-hand to lend his
expertise to the Canada Remembers coverage.
Friesen will also be joined in-studio by Afghanistan War veteran Tim
Laidler, who will provide a unique, first-person perspective on the
effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder on the men and women who have
served in Canada's most recent war. After joining the Canadian Forces
in 2002, Laidler was twice deployed to Afghanistan. Laidler currently
works as a para-professional counselor with the Veterans Transition
Program in B.C. and helps soldiers returning from military service
overseas to readjust to civilian life.
