FRYMIRE FLEMING NAMED CPRS MENTOR OF THE YEAR

DIAMOND JUBILEE AWARD WINNER FOR 2011

SAINT JOHN, NB, June 8, 2011 /CNW/ - The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) honoured Ange Frymire Fleming, APR, professor, Kwantlen Polytechnic University with the 2011 Mentor of the Year Diamond Jubilee Award. Frymire Fleming was recognized for exemplifying the critical role that mentoring plays in the advancement of the public relations profession. She received a framed certificate and was acknowledged amongst her peers at the CPRS national conference awards gala yesterday, June 7, at the Hilton Saint John.

The Mentor of the Year award, established to celebrate CPRS' 60th Anniversary, recognizes the outstanding effort of an accredited public relations practitioner who consistently and actively mentors public relations practitioners to advance in their careers. The award recipient demonstrates a commitment to speaking to post-secondary students, encouraging internships in the workplace, fostering exemplary relationships in the profession and serving the profession.

"Ange has played an instrumental role in both my professional and personal life," said Shelly Burich, APR, Frymire Fleming's nominator for the award. "Her unwavering commitments to developing future generations of PR practitioners and service to the industry itself have made her a role model that we can all learn from."

The Mentor of the Year Diamond Jubilee Award was one of three Major Awards presented at this year's awards gala. The Major Awards recognize exceptional involvement in the public relations profession and candidates are nominated by peers. The awards are judged by the Awards Committee Presiding Officers in consultation with the National President.
