ESO Starts Drill Program at Patterson Lake South

VANCOUVER, Nov. 22, 2011 /CNW/ - ESO Uranium Corp. (TSX-V: ESO) is pleased to announce that drilling has commenced at the Patterson Lake South Property, a Joint Venture (JV) with Fission Energy (TSX-V: FIS), where ESO is the operator of the JV.

The initial drill locations selected target shallow basement mineralization along the down-ice flanks of resistivity targets, close to areas of apparent crosscutting structures that are flagged by discontinuities and flexures in the conductors. The positioning of drill target locations has been made following analysis of the data obtained from recent geophysical surveys. The Patterson Geophysical work is being conducted to confirm historic ground EM conductor positions accurately and to test those EM conductors and areas of magnetic lows in the area for resistivity targets. The resistivity targets could reflect the type of alteration surrounding uranium mineralization.

Aggressive Drilling Ltd. of Prince Albert, Sask., has been contracted for a 10-hole, 1,000-metre drill program that is expected to be completed by mid-December. Drill Target Basics can be viewed in news release dated November 9th 2011.

The target area is within a defined window of Archean rocks that are buried by 50 to 60 metres of till cover. The window was opened by glacial scouring along the southern edge of the Athabasca basin that also removed some of the younger Cretaceous cover. The program is targeting high-grade uranium deposits hosted in basement rocks, similar to those deposits found in the lower parts of the Shea Creek deposit 60 kilometres (40 miles) north of Patterson Lake, and the Millenium, Key Lake and Roughrider deposits in the eastern part of the Athabasca basin. The five-kilometre length of the boulder field and distinct clusters of associated geochemical values in the boulder field suggest more than one source for the boulder field.

The source appears to be associated with the Patterson Lake conductor corridor.  This conductor corridor runs along the boundary zone between the Clearwater and Western granulite domains. According to assessment reports submitted by SMDC, the Crown Corporation, predecessor company of Cameco (TSX: CCO), this is interpreted to have had a favourable geological history, analogous to the highly productive Wollaston domain along its boundary with the Mudjatik domain in the eastern part of the Athabasca basin.
