OTTAWA, April 5 /CNW/ - On behalf of the Rx&D Board of Directors, Paul
Lucas, Chair, is pleased to announce that Dr. Philippe Couillard has
accepted the position of Chair of the Board of Directors for Rx&D's
Health Research Foundation.
"We are privileged to have Dr. Couillard leading The Health Research
Foundation," says Mr. Lucas. "Dr. Couillard's experience and visionary
approach to healthcare policy will be extremely valuable to the
Foundation as it continues to advance the cause of health research in
Canada. Under his leadership, the HRF will ensure the research-based
pharmaceutical industry builds on our track record of being leading
investors in research and development (R&D) in Canada."
Dr. Couillard's accomplishments in public service and health care in
Quebec and Canada include: serving as Quebec's Minister of Health from
2003 to 2008; his vision in developing the Quebec drug policy released

Dr. Couillard succeeds Dr. Yves Morin who is retiring after serving as
chair of the HRF Board from 2005 and 2010.
"Given Dr. Morin's admirable qualities, it is with much humility and
enthusiasm that I begin this term as chair of the HRF's board of
directors. I look forward to having the opportunity to encourage
research teams and projects that endeavor to improve our healthcare
