Deborah Cox Joins Toronto Eaton Centre and Swarovski Canada to Unveil the Seventh Annual Swarovski Crystal Wish Tree

Kick-off to Toronto's holiday season to commence with a festive performance by Deborah Cox

TORONTO, Nov. 17, 2011 /CNW/ - Toronto Eaton Centre, Canada's premier urban shopping destination, in partnership with Swarovski Canada, will kick off the city's 2011 holiday season tonight with the unveiling of the stunning, seventh annual Swarovski Crystal Wish Tree in support of the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada. The spectacular evening event will feature entertainment by Deborah Cox and the High Park Choirs of Toronto, hosted by Dina Pugliese and Kevin Frankish from Citytv's Breakfast Television.

The High Park Choirs of Toronto will kick off the festivities at 5:15 p.m., with inspiring renditions of holiday favourites. Then, Deborah Cox will join Dina Pugliese and Kevin Frankish for the official unveiling at 6:00 p.m. This year, Canada's only Swarovski Crystal Wish Tree, featuring a brand new look for 2011, will shine more brightly than ever with over 44,000 Swarovski crystal ornaments.  Toronto's own Deborah Cox will delight the audience with a live holiday performance as the tree is unveiled.

Deborah is fresh off of her role as a judge on the CBC hit show Cover Me Canada and a recent performance for First Lady, Michelle Obama. Deborah is not only a fixture in the R&B world, she has also held top billing on Broadway as the lead in Elton John and Tim Rice's hit Aida and is set to make her return in 2012 as the legendary Josephine Baker in Josephine.

We are so glad that year after year, the launch of our holiday programming can be dedicated to such a worthy cause."

This holiday season, Toronto Eaton Centre and Swarovski Canada will unveil the Swarovski Crystal Wish Tree in support of The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada. As part of the festivities, Toronto Eaton Centre and Swarovski will continue its tradition of charitable donations by presenting The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada with a cheque for $100,000. Over the past seven years, Toronto Eaton Centre and Swarovski have successfully helped raise more than $750,000, the equivalent of approximately 75 wishes for deserving children and families across Canada.

"We're once again thrilled to unveil the Swarovski Crystal Wish Tree and introduce our 2011 limited-edition ornament in support of The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada," said Susan Wolfe, Vice-President Sales and Marketing, Swarovski Canada. "For seven years, it has been our focus to support the foundation and make wishes come to life. To date, we have successfully helped raise enough money to grant over 75 wishes to kids. We are excited to see the brilliant smiles on the faces of the children again this year."

Swarovski will be once-again be hosting their Swarovski Children's Stars for Wishes Workshops, where children can create their own ornaments. The workshops will begin on Saturday, November 19, 2011, and run in 30-minute sessions from 10 a.m. to 12 noon for four consecutive Saturdays ending December 10, 2011. Ornament kits are sold for $20 with all proceeds going to the Children's Wish Foundation. Canadians can help to raise additional funds by purchasing one of Swarovski's limited edition Children's Wish crystal ornaments, available at Swarovski Gallery stores across Canada. The 2011 ornament retails for $55, with all proceeds going to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada.

The event also serves as the official launch of the Centre's holiday programming which includes storytelling with Santa on weekend mornings beginning November 20, 2011 as well as a Skype with Santa initiative.
