TORONTO, Nov. 21, 2011 /CNW/ -- Dealfind, the third-ranked group buying site in North America[1], announced today the hiring of Greg Root as the Executive Vice President of Sales. Root will use his stellar track record in sales and working with small and medium-sized businesses to further advance the growth of the company. He will oversee the fast-growing sales team as Dealfind rapidly expands throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Root joins the Dealfind executive team having spent the past 10 years in the telecom industry. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Customer Operations for MTS Allstream, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Manitoba Telecom Services Inc. He held this position for the past two and a half years, where he was responsible for all facets of customer operations, including service delivery, service assurance and field operations.

Prior to his time at MTS Allstream, Root worked for seven years at Bell Canada as a vice president, ensuring small and medium-sized businesses were cost-effectively meeting their communication needs. He eventually left the company as the Vice President of Bell Internet Technical Support. He was employed at Sitel (formerly ClientLogic) for seven years as the Director of Canadian Operations before transitioning to the telecom industry. Root holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Guelph.

"We are very excited to have Greg join the Dealfind team," said Gary Lipovetsky, Dealfind Co-Founder and President. "With his prior executive experience with some of the most successful companies in Canada and working extensively with small and medium-sized businesses, he will add tremendous value to our sales team. Dealfind has experienced such significant growth over the past year and a half, we wanted to make sure we had someone as credentialed as Greg to lead our team in building off of this success and continuing to establish the Dealfind brand with our clients."

Root will work with the rest of the Dealfind management team as the company continues to innovate its site and add new features and deal types in the upcoming months. By the end of the year, Dealfind expects to release a mobile app and launch travel, national, everyday deals and other deal verticals.

As a result of these new offerings and a growing customer base, Dealfind has been hiring at a fast pace. The company started the year with 68 staff and currently employees 356. There are expected to be 400 full-time staff by the end of the year. Dealfind's corporate headquarters in Toronto have added 32,000 square feet to accommodate the increasing number of personnel.

"We are finishing 2011 on a very strong note and we are set up for an even bigger and better year in 2012," said Lipovetsky. "We just partnered with Google Offers and we just launched in 18 new U.S. markets. Our deals are now available in 41 U.S. markets and 28 markets in Canada. This added staff will allow us to offer even more savings to customers in more cities in the upcoming year."

Since the Toronto-based company's founding in 2009, Dealfind has saved North Americans more than $350 million through more than 1.5 million purchased vouchers. Featured deals have included discounts on restaurants, spas and salons. The Dealfind website receives between 12 and 16 million visitors per month.
