OTTAWA, Feb. 23 /CNW/ - The Joint Review Panel for the Darlington New Nuclear Power Plant project has released the schedule for the public hearing that will start on March 21, 2011 in the Municipality of Clarington. The hearing will be held at Hope Fellowship Church at 1685 Bloor Street in Courtice, Ontario.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the hearing sessions. The hearing will provide an opportunity for the proponent to explain the project and respond to questions. As well, individuals, organizations, Aboriginal groups and government departments will provide their views on the implications of the proposed project.

The current public hearing schedule is below. The schedule will be available online and at the public hearing. Changes may be made to the schedule and additional hearing sessions may be scheduled. A list of presenters for each session will be available in advance of the hearing and will be revised as required.

Ontario Power Generation will make an overview presentation on the first day of the hearing and several short presentations on specific topics as outlined in the schedule. Government participants and intervenors will make oral presentations to the Panel on the second or subsequent days of the hearing. Participants that have registered to make a ten-minute oral statement will present at various sessions throughout the hearing.

Time permitting, members of the public who have not already done so may have the opportunity to register at the hearing to make an oral statement. Written submissions from intervenors that are not making an oral presentation will be addressed when the schedule allows.

The Panel plans to hold two sessions on each hearing day. Morning sessions will commence at 9:00 am, afternoon sessions will commence at 1:30 pm and evening sessions will commence at 7:00 pm. Each session will continue for approximately 3 to 4 hours.
