Concordia University to host "Fly-by-Wireless" Aerospace Workshop

World aerospace experts collaborate on advanced wireless aircraft technologies at Concordia

MONTREAL, June 10, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - "Fly-by-Wireless" (FBW) is an exciting new concept in the aerospace industry that focuses on minimizing the use of cables and connectors by providing reliable, low-cost, high-performance alternatives. Next week, aerospace leaders from around the world will come to Concordia University to discuss recent advances and future applications of FBW technology, during the 2011 CANEUS "Fly-by-Wireless" Workshop.

Noteworthy speakers include: Mr. George Studor, Chief Architect of NASA's FBW initiative; Dr. Keng Yap of Boeing Defense, Space & Security; Dr. Fidele Moupfouma of Bombardier; and Eugene Stewart from Lockheed Martin. Other organizations represented include: Boeing, the German Space Agency, Airbus, GE, Pratt & Whitney Canada, Industry Canada, ICAO, and Honeywell. Representatives will also be present from educational institutions including the Universities of Sheffield, Barcelona, California, and Toronto, as well as École Polytechnique, Concordia, and McGill.

The CANEUS FBW11 workshop has an exciting program designed to define and implement plans to infuse next-generation technologies within various aerospace industry segments. The meeting is the latest step in ongoing efforts to stimulate the formation of FBW consortia projects in which member organizations would derive significant mutual benefit, as well as to identify projects with a high potential for funding.

News media are invited to attend all or part of this important workshop at no cost. For program details and other information, please visit http://www.caneus.org/fbw.
