TORONTO, Nov. 4, 2011 /CNW/ - The Canadian Olympic Committee announced
today that after a competitive RFP process, Proximity Canada has
officially become the creative agency of record for the Canadian
Olympic Committee (COC).
"While we had some very impressive submissions from many of Canada's
leading creative agencies, the Proximity team came out on top," said
Derek Kent, Chief Marketing Officer at the COC. "Their powerful
thinking, creative ideas, and client passion came through on every
level. We are looking forward to them helping us tell compelling
athlete stories and shine a spotlight on them."
The teams have already met to discuss the brand strategy work.
"Yes, the Canadian Olympic Team is one of the top profile brands in the
country and we are proud to partner with the COC," said Dave Lafond,
President of Proximity Canada. "Our group is extremely excited to work
on this iconic brand to shine a spotlight on athletes with the London
2012 Olympic Games right around the corner."
Over a dozen agencies competed in the proposal process. As a part of the
new marketing partnership, Proximity agreed to provide in-kind work.
The work will include counsel on brand and digital strategy and the
creation of a London Olympic Games campaign.
"This is Canada's brand. The goal here is to showcase our athletes, tell
their stories and offer an opportunity for 33 million Canadians to
celebrate Team Canada. Together we will be creating a platform going
into the 2012 London Olympic Games and beyond," concluded Derek Kent.
