Canadian Gift and Tableware Association Expands National Presence with Acquisition of TRIPS West

- Annual event showcases newest products for the tourist and resort industry -

TORONTO, Nov. 14, 2011 /CNW/ - The Canadian Gift and Tableware Association announced today that it has acquired TRIPS West - The Tourist, Resort and Imprinted Products Show from DMG World Media Inc. TRIPS West will run each February in conjunction with the Spring Alberta Gift Show. The 2012 show runs from February 19 to 22 at Edmonton's Northlands Expo Centre.

"This annual event will not only provide existing retail buyers with new product offerings, but expand the reach of the show and broaden the customer base for our over 580 exhibitors," says Peter Moore, CGTA President and Chief Executive Officer. "We also expect to see increased demand for these innovative products with the Canadian government's recent announcement of a new Federal Tourism Strategy."

The CGTA owns and operates the Toronto, Albert and Montreal Gifts Shows, and this deal further solidifies the Association's position as a leader presence in Canada's $10 billion giftware industry.

TRIPS West, which started in 2004, provides wholesalers, importers and manufacturers of tourist, resort and imprinted items, one targeted event. With items as diverse as Canadian handcrafted items, First Nations and Inuit Art, museum products, resort wear and jewellery, TRIPS will serve as the destination for buyers from all major tourist and resort locations across Canada.
