BRUCE POWER PRESENTS TORONTO'S TRIBUTE TO THE HONOURABLE JOHN MANLEY AND BRIAN BURKE FOR LENDING SUPPORT TO KIDS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES

TORONTO, May 17 /CNW/ - On Thursday, May 19, 2011, at the Ritz-Carlton on 181 Wellington St., Easter Seals Ontario presents its prestigious Easter Seals Toronto's Tribute awards to recognize excellence in business and community service. This year's recipients are The Honourable John P. Manley, President and CEO of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives and Brian Burke, President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto's Tribute Dinner takes place in the Ritz-Carlton Ballroom, with cocktails at 6:00 p.m. and dinner beginning at 7:00 p.m.

"The Toronto's Tribute Dinner is a way for the entire Easter Seals organization to recognize leaders who demonstrate excellence in their industries, in their communities and lend their support to children and youth with physical disabilities," said Duncan Hawthorne, Toronto's Tribute Committee Chair and President and CEO of Bruce Power. "Bruce Power is proud to be the Title Sponsor of this event."

Bruce Power is a strong supporter of Easter Seals Ontario, making a significant financial contribution towards the new Bruce Power Recreation Centre, a fully accessible multi-sport centre at Easter Seals Camp Woodeden, near London. The Bruce Power Recreation Centre will be used by children and youth with physical disabilities who attend Easter Seals camp, as well as by individuals of all ages and levels of ability.

"Our ability to serve children and youth with physical disabilities is largely dependent on public support and on the generosity of organizations like Bruce Power," said Nelson Millman, Chair of the Board for Easter Seals Ontario. "With the participation of our tributees, The Honourable John P. Manley and Brian Burke, the money raised will help ensure that Easter Seals kids get the programs they need."

The money raised supports the new, fully accessible, recreation centre currently under construction at Easter Seals Camp Woodeden in London. This new facility, near completion, will be used to offer expanded programs for children and youth with physical disabilities during the summer months and throughout the year. Bruce Power also hosts the annual Spirit of Giving Dinner in Port Elgin, Ontario. This year's Spirit of Giving Dinner takes place on Tuesday, October 18th at the CAW Family Education Centre in Port Elgin.
