GREATER TORONTO, Sept. 14, 2011 /CNW/ - The Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) is proud
to announce that one of its 1,350 member companies and a Renomark
contractor, Keystone Interiors, has been awarded the contract to manage
the Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) Green Home Makeover project.
The Green Home Makeover is part of the Sustainable Neighbourhood
Retrofit Action Plan (SNAP), a pilot program led by TRCA with Region of
Peel, City of Brampton and community partners. A 1980s-constructed
detached home in Brampton's County Court neighbourhood was selected in
July as the recipient of a complete green renovation.
As the general contractor for the project, Keystone Interiors will be
managing the organization and installation of a high-efficiency HVAC
system; insulation and weatherization; energy efficient appliances;
Energy Star windows and doors; low flow toilets; rain barrels,
permeable driveway; as well as water-efficient landscaping.
The makeover, which is expected to be complete by the end of October,
will be captured on film and the related water and energy use will be
monitored for two years following completion to show associated
financial savings. The project website is: www.sustainableneighbourhoods.ca/makeover
"Keystone Interiors recognizes that more and more homeowners want to
reduce their effect on the environment and these upgrades will make a
big difference while making the home more comfortable and energy
efficient," said owner Emilio Cosentino. "Going green is the way of the
future and Keystone wants to be a part of it."
"Keystone Interiors founder Emilio Cosentino saw an opportunity and
seized it when the TRCA put a call out to BILD members to quote on this
job," said BILD President and CEO Stephen Dupuis. "It speaks volumes
that a Renomark contractor, who has nearly three decades of experience
in the industry, has been selected to manage this green makeover
project," Dupuis added.
BILD members Reliance Home Comfort, Enbridge, GreenSaver, Sears Canada;
and Hanson are among the sponsors who have generously donated products
and services for the retrofit.
With more than 1,350 members, BILD, formed through the merger of the
Greater Toronto Home Builders' Association and Urban Development
Institute/Ontario, is the voice of the land development, home building
and professional renovation industry in the Greater Toronto Area. BILD
is proudly affiliated with the Ontario and Canadian Home Builders'
