An electrical short circuit in the night light can cause it to overheat
and smolder or melt which can burn the consumer or result in a fire.
AmerTac has received 19 reports from the United States of the night
lights smoking, burning and/or charring, including reports of property
damage and one report of a minor burn injury. AmerTac has not received
any reports of incidents with these night lights occurring in Canada.
Three night light models are being recalled, model numbers 71193, 71194
and 327879. All three models have KML, ETL, the model number and the
AmerTacTM logo molded on the back of the night lights' plastic housing. Model
number 71193 is a square shaped, white plastic unit with a flat
translucent square window on the front and a button for changing the
screen colour. Model 71194 and 327879 resemble a computer mouse with
white plastic housing and inset translucent windows on the front and

The 71193 night light was distributed in Azcor Electronics Inc. in
Thornhill, ON, Mountain High Lighting in Castelgar, BC and Vancouver
Lighting in Richmond, BC from July 2009 through December 2010.
The 71194 night light was distributed by Azcor Electronics Inc. in
Thornhill, ON and Sundial Lighting in Vernon, BC from June 2009 through
The 327879 night light was distributed across Canada in Lowes Canada
stores from April 2009 through December 2010.
Consumers should stop using the recalled night lights immediately and
