MONTREAL, Nov. 14, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - The Foundation of Stars is
Quebec's largest source of private funding for pediatric research and
held its 28th edition of the Maria-Raîche benefit Dinner of Stars last
Monday November 7th at the Vieux Port Steakhouse, thanks to the
continued generosity of the Antonopoulos family.
"It is with renewed pleasure that we see our event grow in popularity
every year and we are proud to say that since we began it 28 years ago,
we have given over $400,000 to the Foundation of Stars." This event is
much anticipated by our dear clients and friends and is a great way to
bring everybody together just before the holiday season for a very
worthy cause," emphasizes both Tony and Costa Antonopoulos, owners of
the restaurant and hosts for this evening.
Suzanne Desautels, radio host at CJAD and volunteer for this evening for
more than 20 years was able to magnify the auction which included among
many other items: a hockey stick signed by Michael Cammalleri and a
Montréal Canadians jersey signed by the entire team, as well as boxing
gloves signed by Lucian Bute, Current IBF super middleweight champion.
The evening was a resounding success and raised $45,000 to support
pediatric research, a 35% increase from last year.
The contribution from sponsors like: Groupe Lauzon, Vincor Québec,
Pâtisserie Kilo, Les fruits et légumes Can-Am, North Star Seafood
Montréal, De Fedis and Graphi Pack conception, also made this evening
delicious for all guests. "It's because of the support from our
partners, sponsors and volunteers that we maintain hope to find cures
for diseases that affect our children", said Jean Sylvain Labbé,
Executive Director at the Foundation of Stars. "Thank you so much to
the Antonopoulos family for their generosity and contribution to the
health of our children", he concluded.

give our children the chance to grow up healthy. The Foundation is
recognized as the most important source of non-governmental funding for
pediatric research in Quebec. Since 1977, the Foundation has
distributed more than $64.5 million to pediatric research centres at
the following hospitals: the Montreal Children's Hospital, the "CHU
Sainte-Justine", the "Centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec" and
the "Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke".
