Barrie's HOUSTON AVENUE BAR hosts a spectacular Grand Opening Party!
BARRIE, ON, June 14, 2012 /CNW/ - The guest list for this highly anticipated invite-only soiree reads like a who's who of the Barrie community and surrounding area. From Barrie's mayor and members of council, to respected business leaders and socialites, guests were treated right away to champagne-hibiscus cocktails and a unique art installation by Camal Pirbhani specially commissioned for the event. A large outside grill provided bits and bites throughout the evening of Houston famous steak as well as unique appetizers designed to introduce their innovative menu to all attendees.
A signature cocktail for the night called the Bull-Dozer was a real crowd pleaser together with a "flair" bartender who concocted them upon demand.
Music was a highlight, with lots of live retro dance music provided by an amazing band composed of some of Canada's finest musicians, including director and guitarist Vezi Tayyeb, Great Bob Scott on drums, David Rodenburg on vocals and sax, Christopher Rouse on vocals and keys, Eric Soostar on bass and the dynamic Alysha Brillinger as front vocalist.
Go-go girls were an added bonus, as were the gorgeous Houston staff members all dressed up for the occasion in white anime wigs and bowler hats. Smiles were the most common element of the night and guests were seen dancing up a storm, singing and generally having a great time way into the wee hours. Comments included "Best party ever seen in Barrie!", "Feels like I'm in L.A.", "Wow is all I can say; totally speechless." "Definitely be my new favourite hangout!" and "Great food, great décor, fantastic staff!" - it was truly a night of superlatives. The whole community was a-buzz about the party for days before as the hand-delivered invitations went out, and when the day came, it did not disappoint. From bullhead logos shot into the evening sky before dusk to the rotating searchlights beaming up for the rest of the evening, everyone for miles around knew the party was happening. As the crowd watched, the ribbon was cut by acting mayor Brian Jackson, a cheque for $3,000 was given to local charity 12 Ladies in a Tent by Houston Canada President Tony Messina and Vice President of Houston Ontario, Richard Carrer who welcomed the attendees with a few well-chosen words. The rest is all part of history now for Houston Avenue Bar, a newcomer to this area who set out to convince Barrie of their worth and managed to succeed - in one fantastic evening of fun!For further information:
