/R E P E A T -- Invitation for Saturday, June 16 - Swim for Free Day at Parc Jean-Drapeau/
MONTREAL, June 12, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - For the second straight year, Parc Jean-Drapeau is celebrating the arrival of summer by opening its beach and pools to the general public for a day of free swimming on Saturday, June 16. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., families, friends and outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of these outstanding swimming facilities which are located just minutes from downtown Montréal.
"Swim for Free Day is the ideal opportunity for the entire family to discover our Beach and Aquatic Complex while enjoying a festive ambiance," said Parc Jean-Drapeau spokesperson, Nathalie Lessard. "This ambiance will be in evidence as soon as visitors come out of the Jean-Drapeau subway station, as they will be welcomed by the musical group, Faux Nez. So, there is definitely lots of fun in store at this second consecutive Swim for Free Day."
On this special day, visitors will have free use of the water crafts (kayak, mayak, canoe, pedal boat). Along with this, trampolines, stand up paddleboards and a volleyball court will be made available to visitors. People of all ages will also be able to have fun on a 20-metre long giant inflatable module set up on the water for this special occasion. There will also be entertainment, a make-up workshop, contests and door prizes.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to take a refreshing dip in a huge gradual-slope pool and play in the Aquatic Complex's water games and inflatable structure. And they can also attend the various swimming and diving competitions that will be going on throughout the day.
People can easily get to Parc Jean-Drapeau by bike, car, subway, or by taking the river shuttle from Montréal's Old Port. Visitors can take advantage of the STM's Sorties en famille (Family outings) program that allows up to five children accompanied by an adult to use public transportation free of charge.
