TORONTO, May 15, 2012 /CNW/ - Allstream, Canada's all-business communications provider, is proud to announce that it has joined the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). Allstream made the announcement today during an International Telecoms Week luncheon in Chicago.
The Metro Ethernet Forum is a global industry alliance comprising more than 195 organizations, and the defining body for Carrier Ethernet worldwide. The MEF's mission is to accelerate the worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services. MEF develops Carrier Ethernet technical specifications and implementation agreements to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide.
Allstream's participation in the forum will allow it to contribute to the development of Ethernet standards, engage with other members and build relationships with other international carriers and, most importantly, help ensure that Allstream is providing the highest levels of service and product to its customers.
"Ethernet is becoming the ubiquitous access choice for Canadian businesses and it is a focus for Allstream, so this was a natural step for us," said Dean Prevost, President, Allstream. "We have a great interest in participating in the conversation and contributing to industry leadership when it comes to evolving the technology."
