TORONTO, Dec. 1, 2011 /CNW/ - Entertainment Tonight Canada announced tonight the exclusive line-up for its 3rd annual 'New Year's Eve at Niagara Falls,' the country's largest televised live New Year's Eve party. The two-hour coast-to-coast countdown, hosted by Cheryl Hickey (@cherylhickeyetc) and Rick Campanelli (@rcampanellietc), begins at 10pm ET/PT on Global.
Accented by a custom designed stage with state of the art lighting and video displays opposite the world famous falls, ET Canada's year-end celebration will feature performances by some of the country's biggest names in music. The evening kicks off in fine style with JUNO award-winner Keshia Chanté followed by a performance by The Sheepdogs, Saskatoon's international rock phenomenon. Alt-rock legends, Our Lady Peace, keep the momentum going as the clock ticks down to midnight with pop/punk group, Simple Plan, one of Canada's most prolific bands, taking to the stage for a rousing finish. The evening will also include a special performance by a surprise guest, to be announced during the broadcast.
"Nothing brings Canadians together like a great party, and we've got the biggest," said Barbara Williams, SVP of Content, Shaw Media. "For the final two hours of 2011, ET Canada will entertain the country with a spectacular lineup of performers and feature special guests who will remind us why this was such a great year."
Last year's New Year's Eve celebration peaked at midnight with 1.9 million viewers (2+, national) tuning in, while the annual event itself attracted over 50,000 people to Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls.
Between performances, Cheryl and Rick will introduce a long list of celebrities who will have special holiday greetings for Global viewers. All of this leads to a breathtaking fireworks display, launched at the stroke of midnight from the Skylon Tower, over the Falls and from the ET Canada stage itself.
Global sponsorship partners include Freixenet, a leading producer of sparkling wines, the exclusive alcohol provider for the New Year's Eve special, Nicorette, which is sponsoring the New Year's countdown clock with their Counting Down to Quit campaign and Weight Watchers.
Community partners include: The Niagara Parks Commission (Host Sponsor), The City of Niagara Falls, Fallsview Tourist Area, Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort, Victoria Centre Tourist Area, Clifton Hill Tourist Area, Skylon Tower, Lundy's Lane Tourist Area, Celebrate Ontario and other stakeholders within the city.
