Launch of the 6th Annual Green Christmas and Recycling-Artists Eco Fair Event at the Biosphere
MONTRÉAL, Nov. 17, 2011 /CNW/ - Green Christmas will be returning to the Biosphere from November 19 to December 23, 2011. The magical surroundings of the Environment Museum provide an ideal setting for this year's holiday season programming, starring the 3 Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle). What's more, the Recycling-Artists Eco Fair is a unique must-see event where visitors can shop for items made entirely from recycled materials.
Recycling-Artists Eco Fair: December 2 to 4
Now in its 6th edition, the Fair brings together 50 exhibitors inspired by a shared
artistic and environmental approach. Visitors to this major
eco-responsible event will find a variety of objects made from recycled
materials, including utility items, clothing, jewellery and
accessories. Admission is free and, as a special treat to mark the
occasion, admission to the ONE | Outfits for a New Era exhibition is
also free. Schedule: Friday, December 2, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday,
December 3 and 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Eco-wrapping Workshops
In the spirit of upcycling, young and old are invited to discover the
art of creating beautiful gift boxes. Working with nothing more than a
cardboard box, a wee bit of time, and a little imagination,
participants will leave with unique gift boxes. All of the materials
are provided by the Biosphere. Schedule: 1 p.m. (French) and 2 p.m. (English), Saturdays and Sundays on November
19-20, and 26-27, and December 10-11, and 17-18.
A New Twist on the Holidays Group Tour
This weekday activity for adult groups will inspire you with new ideas
for your holiday season planning. Highlights include a look back at the
Expo 67 Pavilion, tours of the Behind the Christmas Tree and ONE |
Outfits for a New Era exhibitions, discussions on holiday consumerism,
tips and tricks, and do-it-yourself eco-friendly gift wrapping
demonstrations.
Behind the Christmas Tree
This mini-exhibit with its six themed tableaux provides a look at
statistics on energy use, decorations and electronics during the
holiday season.
